Hello, 90-degree weather! My family can't wait for this summery weekend to start.
There are so many family-friendly things to do this weekend, it was really tough to pick just five things. So I decided to go for top ten things to do with kids instead.
Lucky for you, five out of the ten things listed are free!
1. FREE - KidFest - Silver Spring, MD
Sunday, May 2: 12 pm - 4 pm
A fun family event that includes games, activities, face painting, finger painting, live entertainment and clowns. Free admissions.
KidFest will be held at East County Community Center, located at 3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring, Maryland (map it).
2. FREE - Celebrate Mama - Bethesda, MD
Saturday, May 1: 11 am - 4 pm
Check out great kid-friendly products and services at this street festival. Exhibiting vendors at Celebrate Mama will include Washington Family Magazine, My Gym of Potomac, Stroller Strides, Love Life Images, Certifikid and more. Free admissions, and the first 300 attendees get free goody bags!
Celebrate Mama will be held on Woodmont Ave, between Bethesda Ave and Elm St, in Bethesda, Maryland (map it).
3. FREE - Glen Echo Family Day Festival - Glen Echo, MD
Saturday, May 1: 11 am - 4 pm
Join the fun at Glen Echo Family Day Festival. Free activities include magic shows, face painting, t-ball extreme and more. This day is also the opening day for the carousel at the park. Free admissions, carousel ride is $1.25.

4. The Laurie Berkner Band Birthday Party Concert - Baltimore, MD
Saturday, May 1: 2 pm - 3:25 pm
Bring your party hat! Sing along and dance to your favorite tunes with Laurie, Susie, Adam and Bob. Tickets start from $20 (lawn seats) to $50. Free for your kid if he/she sits on your lap. Get your tickets online.

5. Science You Can Sing To Concert - Vienna, VA
Saturday, May 1: 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Get ready to mix science and fun at Science You Can Sing To live concert, featuring songs from Swamp Stomp Boogie. USA Today rated Swamp Stomp Boogie as "well-produced and the songwriting is fun and quirky." Curiosity Zone will also have fun hands-on experiment labs at the concert. Tickets are $10 per person for anyone 12 months and older. Get your tickets online.

6. Dan Zanes and Friends - Bethesda, MD
Sunday, May 2: 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm
Join Grammy-award winners Dan Zanes and Friends as they perform spirited family songs at this special concert, featuring the WPAS Children of the Gospel Choir. Dan Zanes has been dubbed by People Magazine as the Crown Prince of contemporary kids music. Tickets are from $15 to $32. Get your tickets online.

7. Meadowlark Botanical Gardens - Vienna, VA
Friday, April 30 - Sunday, May 2: 10 am - 7:30 pm
Take a stroll at this beautiful park in Vienna, Virginia. Say hello to the birds and butterflies as you enjoy the many trees and flowers at the gardens, such as cherry trees, irises, peonis and native wildflowers. It also features walking trails, lakes and gazebos. Admissions are $5 for adults, $2.50 for seniors (55+), $2.50 for kids ages 7 to 17 and free for kids under 7.

8. Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens - Mount Vernon, VA
Friday, April 30 - Sunday, May 2: 8 am - 5 pm
So many things to do at Mount Vernon! Take a walk in one (or all) of the four gardens, tour the Mansion han other buildings, and check out a four-acre working farm. Come on Friday, April 30th, and enjoy wagon rides for free from 10 am to 2 pm. You can find the wagon rides at the Pioneer Farmer site, a five-minute walk from the mansion.
National Treasure tours are also open daily at 9:30 am, 11:30 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. This walking tour is an hour long, where you get to see the behind-the-scene areas of "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets" movie.
Admission tickets are $15 for adults, $14 for seniors (62+), $7 for kids ages 6 - 11 and free for kids under 6. Wagon rides on Friday are included in admissions. National Treasure Tours are $5 in addition to admission fees. Get your tickets online.

9. FREE - Messy Art at At Play Cafe - Reston, VA
Friday, April 30: 4:30 pm
Saturday, May 1: 11 am
No need to clean up after messy painting at your house! Take your kids to At Play Cafe, an always-open play are for preschoolers, where they get to unleash their creativity with a fun art project. Free art supplies and admissions. Call 703-391-6131 for more information.

10. FREE - Kidwell Farm at Frying Pan Farm Park - Herndon, VA
Friday, April 30 - Sunday, May 1: 9 am - 5 pm
Say hello to little piglets, lambs, calves and other baby animals at this fun farm. Other animals include turkeys, ducks, a peacock, horses, cows, sheep, goats, chickens and rabbits. Visit Kidwell Farm at 4 pm to see a cow milking demonstration in the barn - your kid may get a chance to milk the cow, too. After taking a walk around the farm, head over to the playground area, where they have two separate play sets - one for toddlers and another for big kids.
